11 Most Endangered Historic Places

We updated a boring slideshow by creating a dynamic and mobile responsive Convio layout that shows all 11 places at once (instead of making visitors scroll through to see them all), then added take action buttons that engage visitors and drive petition signatures, as well as a form that invites visitors to suggest additions to next year’s list.

The National Trust for Historic Preservation approached us as they were gearing up for their single biggest day of media attention: the announcement of 2014’s 11 Most Endangered Historic Places list.

In previous years, the campaign’s photo slideshow had caused performance issues on the site, and between those and the non-mobile-friendly code, had lost a lot of potential clicks and shares.

We updated the boring slideshow by creating a dynamic and mobile responsive Convio layout that shows all 11 places at once (instead of making visitors scroll through to see them all).

We added take action buttons that engage visitors and drive petition signatures, as well as a form that invites visitors to suggest additions to next year’s list.

We were thrilled to see the list get the attention it deserves in publications like The New York Times and Time Magazine!
